There are lots of quality food and beverage suppliers in and around Apollo Bay.
So, if you love a good meal, trying something new and taking a swag of locally made product home with you, here are a few little local secrets:
Apollo Bay is one of the few places in Victoria where you can purchase seafood caught straight from the local ocean waters. Catch your own from the land, or try some inshore fishing for a chance to land anything from shark or snapper to flathead or squid!
Other tours will take you out to try deep sea shark or tuna fishing, great for those seeking adventure. For those more willing to leave it to the professionals, fantastic, local seafood can be enjoyed in a number of eateries in Apollo Bay, plus there’s an annual seafood festival in February.
Check out:
– Award winning Apollo Bay Bakery for a scallop pie
– Fisherman’s Co-op for fresh Southern Rock lobster
– Great Ocean Road Brewhouse for a fresh seafood lunch or dinner (bistro)
– Chris’s Restaurant (fine dining)
The Apollo Bay Market is held most Saturday mornings and is popular with locals and visitors. In addition to quality craft, art, jewellery and other creations, you’ll find more local produce – from farm fresh vegetables and fruit from the area, to homemade cider and preserves.
Start with a locally roasted coffee and wander around the stalls. The atmosphere is always friendly, vibrant and the smell of baked goods and coffee in the air is divine!
All towns and villages across the Great Ocean Road region offer their own unique food and beverage produce, so make sure you stay a while and visit a few different places!
